FAQs

Can I attend business meetings without a business visa?

For short trips, yes. The B1 e-VOA lets Chinese citizens attend business meetings, negotiate and sign agreements, and visit sites for up to 30 days. For longer business stays, apply for the C2 Business e-Visa (up to 60 days). You cannot sell goods or be paid by anyone in Indonesia.

Can I stay longer?

Yes. The B1 e-VOA can be extended once, for another 30 days, at an Indonesian Immigration Office before your first 30 days end. For longer business stays, the C2 Business e-Visa allows up to 60 days.

Is the arrival card the same as the visa?

No. The arrival card is a separate form that every traveller submits within 3 days before arrival, with or without a visa. Submit it only on the official site. Apax Gateway does not charge for arrival cards.

What happens if I overstay?

You can be fined Rp1,000,000 for each day you overstay, and you may also be detained, deported or banned from returning for a period. Staying more than 60 days past your permit can lead to detention, deportation or a ban.

Do I need a visa if I only transit through Indonesia?

No, as long as you stay inside the airport's international transit area.

Before you apply

What exactly is the e-VOA?

It is the online version of Indonesia's Visa on Arrival (B1). It gives you one entry and up to 30 days in Indonesia for tourism, government visits, business meetings, buying goods or transit. Because you get it before you fly, you skip the visa counter on arrival.

What do I need to apply?

A clear image of your passport photo page (valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date), a passport-style photo and an email address. The official system accepts JPG or PNG files of up to 200 KB each.

How early should I apply?

You can apply up to 14 days before you travel. Apply at least 48 hours before your flight to be safe.

Do I have to arrive on the exact date in my application?

No. Your e-VOA is valid for 90 days from the date in your application, and you can arrive on any day in that period. Your 30-day stay starts on the day you arrive.

Does everyone in my group need their own e-VOA?

Yes. Every traveller needs a separate e-VOA, including a child who has their own passport.

Can I get a multiple-entry e-VOA?

No, the e-VOA is single entry only. If you need to enter several times, apply for a multiple-entry visa instead.

Can I still get a visa at the airport instead?

Yes. If your nationality is eligible for the e-VOA, you can also get a Visa on Arrival at the port of entry, as long as you meet the requirements.

Your application

What if I make a mistake in my application?

You have to submit a new application, and the government does not refund the fee for mistakes. Wrong information can also get you refused at the border. This is why we check every application before it is submitted.

My e-VOA does not match my passport. Can I still use it?

No. An e-VOA with details that do not match your passport is invalid. You need a new one, and the government fee for the old one is not refunded.

How do I receive my e-VOA?

Once it is issued, you get a download link by email. Keep a copy on your phone and a printed copy, in case the officer's system is down.

How is my personal information protected?

Indonesia's immigration authority states that it does not sell or share applicants' data for commercial use, and stores it in secure systems. The barcode on your e-VOA is encrypted and digitally signed. You are responsible for keeping your own copies safe.

At the border

Does an e-VOA guarantee I can enter Indonesia?

No. It shows you are eligible to ask for entry. The immigration officer at the airport or port makes the final decision.

What should I have ready when I land?

Your passport (valid for at least 6 months from arrival), your e-VOA, and a printed return or onward ticket. The officer may ask to see the ticket.

Staying longer

How do I extend my stay?

Apply for an extension at an Indonesian Immigration Office before your 30 days end. The e-VOA can be extended once, for another 30 days.

Can I apply for a new e-VOA while I am in Indonesia?

No. You must leave Indonesia before you can use a new e-VOA. If you want to stay longer, extend your current one at an Immigration Office instead.

Payments and refunds

If my e-VOA is refused, do I get my money back?

We refund our SGD 30.00 service fee in full. The Indonesian government does not refund its fee for refused applications.

Can I get a refund if I do not travel?

The government does not refund unused e-VOAs.

I do not have a credit card. Can I still apply?

The official site only accepts Mastercard, Visa or JCB credit cards, and the card does not have to be in your name.
